The Power of a Morning Routine
What if 15 minutes could change everything – would you try it?
Mornings hold incredible power. How you begin your day determines how you show up for everything that follows. Proactively establishing a morning routine not only increases your energy and momentum, but it also helps you start your day with intention. You don’t have to wake up hours earlier for this to be successful. Just choose how you want to spend the first 15 minutes of your morning. A morning routine just means you perform the same basic tasks in the same order every day. When you take even a few minutes to slow down, connect inward, and set your intention, you create space for more calm, focus, and joy.
Here’s a simple, 15-minute morning routine you can try tomorrow to feel more grounded, present, and in charge of your day:
- Meditate
Meditation is a practice that allows us to quiet our mind of excessive chatter and create more awareness. Meditation brings about profound changes in one’s mind, body and spirit. On a mind level, it allows us to be still and present. This can reduce our anxiety and bring about clarity and awareness. It also increases our creativity and improves memory and concentration. On the body level, it has been shown to slow the aging process, reduce stress, boost immunity and decrease heart rate and blood pressure. On the spirit level, when we meditate, we check out of our limited mind and open up our intuition, Spirit, and God.
There is no right or wrong way to meditate. And meditation doesn’t have to be complicated or mystical. No need to sit a certain way, light candles, or be surrounded by crystals. If you want to do that then go for it, but in the beginning, keep it simple! I suggest starting with short 5-10 minute guided meditations. This is what helped me fall in love with meditation. We have several on our website which you can check out here.
Please know your mind will wander (because you’re human!) — that’s not failure, that’s the practice. Each time you notice, lovingly guide yourself back to the guided meditation. This moment of stillness allows you to quiet mental noise, release stress, and start your day from a place of peace instead of reactivity. Think of this as pressing the reset button for your mind.
- Journal
Right after your meditation, grab your journal and spend a few minutes focusing on how you want to experience the day ahead. This helps you set your intentions for the day. What you focus on grows.
In my book, The Gift of Mindfulness, I call it AM Manifesting. Ask yourself the following:
- What am I grateful for?
- How do I want to feel today?
- What new thought or belief do I want to embrace?
- How will I practice mindfulness today?
- What are my “signs” for the day?
This practice is designed to take you less than 5 minutes! Writing these down shifts your mindset from “reacting to life” to consciously creating your day.
This AM Manifesting is just one of many mindfulness practices you’ll find in my book The Gift of Mindfulness. If you loved the AM Manifesting practice, you’ll find even more tools inside to help you create a life you love. Grab your copy today and start incorporating more mindfulness into your day and create the life you’re dreaming of.
- Step Outside and Look at the Sky
Before you check your phone, step outside. Look up at the sky. Take a slow, deep breath.
Getting natural sunlight first thing in the morning is one of the most powerful things you can do for your health. Morning light helps regulate your circadian rhythm, which improves sleep quality, boosts mood, and gives you steady energy throughout the day.
Even if it’s cloudy, 1–2 minutes outside will do wonders for your body and mind.
Why This Works
This 15-minute routine is simple — but it’s incredibly powerful.
- Mind: Meditation helps you start calm, clear, and grounded. (5-8 minutes)
- Heart: Journaling aligns you with what you truly want to create. (5 minutes)
- Body: Natural light wakes up your brain and sets your energy for the day. (1-2 minutes)
When you begin your mornings with these three simple, but effective steps, you take back control of how you feel and how you show up. Over time, this small ritual creates big shifts — more ease, more clarity, and more joy.
And just think — if 15 minutes could shift your entire day and start to transform your life, wouldn’t you say yes?
In love and gratitude,
Jenni
