It’s a simple but powerful exercise that helps move us from emotional overwhelm into proactive thought. Because the truth is this:

“You cannot be in your feelings and in proactive thought at the same time.” – David Byrd

When we are emotionally consumed by fear, frustration, or worry, it becomes difficult to think clearly about solutions.

los Perspective Analysis™ helps create awareness around two things:

Your current reality

What you can actually do about it

On the left side of the page, you write down everything about your current situation that is weighing on you — the stress, frustration, fear, or uncertainty.

Then on the right side of the page, you focus only on what you can control:

What action can I take?

What conversation do I need to have?

What boundary do I need to create?

How do I need to shift my mindset?

This process immediately shifts your energy into proactive thought. Instead of staying stuck in emotional reaction, you begin focusing on intentional action. Writing clarifies thought and helps you reconnect with your power.

Perspective does not mean pretending life is perfect. It also does not mean avoiding or suppressing your feelings. In fact, I believe it is incredibly important that we allow ourselves to recognize and feel all of our emotions — not just the comfortable ones, but also the difficult ones like anger, jealousy, disappointment, fear, or shame. Our feelings are not something to fear. They are signals inviting us into greater awareness. But many of us have been conditioned to push difficult emotions away, judge them, or pretend they don’t exist.

The problem is this: what we resist persists.

When we allow ourselves to acknowledge our emotions without judgment, we create the space to move through them instead of staying stuck in them. That’s where perspective becomes so powerful.

Once we recognize our feelings and allow ourselves to fully process them, we can begin shifting from emotional reaction into intentional action. We can ask:

What is within my control right now?

How do I want to show up in this moment?

What is my next aligned step?

Small intentional actions create momentum. And momentum changes everything.

So the next time you’re having a bad day or life has given you one of those challenges, take out a piece of paper and divide it into two columns:

Current Reality | What I Can Do

First, write down everything that feels heavy or stressful about your current situation.

Then take a deep breath and begin listing proactive steps you can take — no matter how small.

Because when you shift your focus from what you cannot control to what you can control, you begin reclaiming your energy and your peace.

En amor y gratitud,
Jenni

There are moments in life when our thoughts begin to spiral.
